The Perpetual Minority
This poem addresses the truth behind being a minority in any given situation. Often in society, there are minorities that band together and criticize individuals of particular majorities for actions that others of their race, religion, gender, etc. have been convicted of doing. These newly criticized individuals then in turn become a new minority.
A Perpetual Minority
Always in the faintest of heart and felt
In exclusion of life and the wrath
The slash of the branding belt
We exist together
One and finer
Of objects suficer
I am the surprise and you fall
From the depths of thought
I am a minority, raised by wrought
We sway, we swoon, we exist
The shining of sun, the glamour of moon
The attention on us, the minority
How wooed we are, by choice, afar
Discriminatory action, of purest heart
I am now of minority; the irony is set apart.
